New Methods of Assessment/Group selection
Objective
muokkaaThis course will split into 4 distinct sub categories to enable small groups to work more closely together and with their tutor. These groups are divided by the technology tool used (Blog, Wiki, e-Portfolios and Virtual Worlds). Following this division into groups, participants will be asked to form pairs to enable peer working and peer assessment.
Introduce yourself
muokkaaIn order to provide fellow participants with information on yourself and on your interests in this course, you are asked to post a brief introduction to yourself in the Moodle area set up for the 'New Methods of Assessment Course'. Write briefly about your expecations in this course, your background as teacher/tutor, your uses of social media and anything else you would like to know also from you becoming pair. If you have difficulty accessing Moodle then please contact Satu Nurmela for log on details.
Forming of small groups
muokkaaAdd your name to that small group you are interested in to take part. (Your surname name is enough if you don't want to write your whole name.) There can be maximum 8-10 participants in each of the small groups so don't exceed this maximum number of participants. At this point of the course the early bird gets the worm!
Forming of pairs
muokkaaPairs are formed based on the introductions. Aim is to get a pair from the same small group so you can do the activities together and assess each others learning processes easier.
There is no need to be a difference in knowledge and experiences between you and your pair. We are looking for equal-status collaboration in peer tutoring and in peer assessment. You are supposed to be real peers and persons of equal standing. In your peer tutor role your are not teachers so you donn't have to have a professional qualification but are more or less identical with your tutees. Aim is to create an open communicative athmosphere between you and your pair and you will interact frequently and actively. You will assess the learning process weekly and report this to your small group tutor.
It is enough to use your surname in this list of pairs.
Define your own learning goals during this week. The amount of goals may vary and also the quality based on your interests. Compare and reflect your goals together with your peer. Could you learn something from each others already at this point? When your individual goas and goals of your peer are ready send them to your tutor and if possible organise a short synchronous meeting with the tutor.
